Month-end rarely becomes stressful because of one big problem. It becomes stressful because small tasks were left until the last day. A few steady habits can change that.

Categorise transactions weekly

Waiting until the end of the month means working from memory. Reviewing and categorising transactions each week keeps questions fresh: what was this payment for, and which project does it belong to?

A tidy month-end is usually the result of an ordinary week, repeated.

Reconcile bank accounts on a schedule

A bank reconciliation confirms that your records agree with what the bank shows. Doing it monthly at minimum, and sooner for busy accounts, helps you catch duplicates, missing entries and mistakes while they are still easy to trace.

Keep supporting documents together

Invoices, receipts and contracts should be easy to find. Agree on one place to store them and a simple naming approach, so any entry can be explained quickly if someone asks.

Review open invoices and bills

A short regular look at what customers owe you and what you owe suppliers makes cash planning easier and prevents payments from being missed.

Close the month with a short checklist
